Switch to the grid layer to estimate emissions using carbon intensity for the same time interval.
Public v7 API with modeled global greenhouse gas estimates. The latest bundled period is January–July 2026, released on 2026-09-24. Forestry and land use are excluded by default. Year-over-year comparisons use matching months. Missing months remain gaps.
Data is licensed under CC BY 4.0; some external sources may have additional terms. The API is in beta. This page provides dated snapshots as a fallback. It loads snapshots initially and can query the API when you change filters.
GCP fossil CO₂ dataset v2025v15, CC BY 4.0. This layer covers 1850–2024 using the complete, checksum-verified CSV. Values are Mt CO₂/year, covering coal, oil, gas, cement, flaring and other emissions. Global totals include international shipping and aviation; country rankings exclude both. Historical country names and boundaries may differ.
This layer excludes land-use change. The source’s 2015–2024 gridded product is a ten-year average, not a daily live map. Annual values are not added to other layers or used for direct cross-source year-over-year comparisons.

Satellite Observations includes 1,881 published VISIONS plume records: 601 CH₄ and 1,280 CO₂ records within 1 January 2024–30 November 2025, retrieved on 1 October 2026. These are archived observations with uneven coverage, not a live feed or a complete emissions inventory.
Plume outlines, maximum enhancement (ppm m), and available gas-specific emission rates and uncertainties (kg/h) retain their source units. Point/polygon duplicates are collapsed by plume ID. Missing observations do not mean zero emissions. NASA data-use and citation requirements apply.
Source: Carbon Mapper (data.carbonmapper.org). The same archive window includes 2,809 published EMIT and Tanager satellite records: 2,204 CH₄ and 605 CO₂ records, retrieved on 1 October 2026. Aircraft observations are excluded. Hidden emission estimates remain missing; unspecified quality flags are labeled.
Same-gas comparisons default to 5 km and 24 hours. Shared EMIT acquisitions are marked as non-independent. Proximity is only a candidate match, not proof of a common source. Rate differences are displayed without averaging, annualization or adding emissions across records. The combined 4,690 records are not unique emission events.
Data and derived comparisons retain Carbon Mapper attribution and non-commercial, same-terms redistribution requirements. This layer uses the published snapshot; it does not fetch new satellite acquisitions.
OCO2_L2_Lite_FP v11.3r: atmospheric CO₂ observations from 29 November 2025, downloaded through NASA GES DISC on 2 October 2026. The daily file contains 146,748 soundings; 76,454 have quality flag 0. The map displays 2,297 actual quality-0 soundings, retaining the minimum-uncertainty sounding per 0.25° cell/hour.
This is a single-day imported display subset, not a live feed, a continuous global surface or complete mission coverage. XCO₂ is measured in ppm, distinct from plume enhancement and emission rates. Atmospheric context compares nearby CO₂ observations within 50 km and 72 hours; proximity does not establish a shared source. No interpolation, conversion to emissions or combined total is calculated.
Power-sector CO₂ intensity and emissions, with up to hourly resolution and daily updates; not economy-wide emissions. Access is temporarily free but not CC-licensed. Contact webstore@iea.org for API access and confirm public-display rights. API credentials and display permission have not yet been obtained.
Grid-zone electricity carbon intensity, including historical and forecast data. A 14-day evaluation does not grant public-product rights. Free access eligibility, zone coverage and caching permissions for ZCO remain to be confirmed. No live values from this source are displayed.
Global daily fossil fuel and cement CO₂ grids at 0.1° resolution, suitable for heatmaps. The latest complete release has not yet been verified, so this source is not labeled live. The methods page specifies kgC/h/grid cell; CO₂ and time-unit conversions must follow each file’s metadata.
Net Zero Tracker country subset, snapshot 1 October 2026, retrieved 2 October 2026. 197 country / territory records; EU aggregate excluded. Net-zero, carbon-neutrality and related target types retain their gas coverage and status. Interim reduction targets are not shown as net-zero targets. Proposed targets are excluded from map colors by default; self-declared achievement is shown separately.
ZCO adaptation for non-commercial public-interest display under CC BY-NC 4.0. The snapshot date is not the review date of every country. Official documents update Thailand to 2050 and correct Germany’s neutrality deadline to 2045; the imported tracker records are retained. Six selected official peaking records are included; this is not a comprehensive global inventory. Projections and conditional partnership objectives are distinct from commitments and excluded by default. This layer displays the published snapshot.

Official sources reviewed on 2 October 2026. Coverage is selective; records without a reviewed peaking statement remain “not verified.” These are factual summaries and source links, not redistributed official document files.
Simplified Natural Earth 1:110m public-domain boundaries are used for data exploration and imply no position on boundaries. Small islands and unmatched regions may be absent from the map; use search or the list instead. ECharts 5.6.0 (Apache-2.0). Values from different layers are not added together.
Official yearly electricity CSV; total-generation intensity only. Country and economy records exclude regional aggregates. Lifecycle generation emissions in gCO₂e/kWh; not consumption-side flow tracing or a live signal. Select a common year; missing values remain missing. Attribution: Ember, CC BY 4.0. Downloaded 2 October 2026.
Official 15-minute national data, mainland France excluding Corsica. Direct generation emissions, not lifecycle or imported-electricity intensity. Recent view queries the public API; if unavailable it labels the saved snapshot and observation time. RTE ODRÉ attribution and dataset reuse terms apply.
The annual view includes the United States via Ember. The EIA hourly carbon-intensity feed has not yet been validated or connected. No US live values are inferred from annual data.
