User Guide & Data Responsibility
Last updated: 1 October 2026
ZCO is a community for learning, participation and practical exploration. Please read this guide before submitting feedback, challenge records or project data.
1. Your responsibility when submitting data
By choosing to submit data through ZCO, you acknowledge responsibility for the data you provide, including its accuracy, lawful collection, ownership and your authority to disclose it. Obtain any necessary permission from the people or organisations concerned. You are responsible for consequences arising from inaccurate information, unauthorised disclosure or misuse of data you submit.
Submit only information necessary for the task. Do not include passwords, API keys, confidential business material or sensitive personal information. Remove unrelated details from files and evidence links, and keep your own backups.
2. How submissions are used
Website feedback is stored for community support, review and participation recognition. Submitted Island projects and selected calculation snapshots are stored for ZCO administrators to review and download. When you request a report email, the report is sent to the address you provide. Challenge records are reviewed for community recognition; participant profiles and leaderboards may show public participation information.
Browser drafts and uploaded calculation files may remain on your device. Explicitly submitting a project sends the selected data to the server. Island location searches use external services as described beside the search controls. Email feedback is handled through the email services used by you and ZCO.
3. Community role and limits of responsibility
ZCO provides community participation and exploratory tools. It does not independently certify submitted data, guarantee the accuracy of estimates or provide engineering, financial or other professional advice. You are responsible for verifying inputs and outputs and for decisions made using them.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ZCO disclaims liability for losses arising from user-submitted data, unauthorised submissions, data inaccuracies, loss of local drafts, third-party services or reliance on preliminary tool results. No online service can guarantee uninterrupted availability or absolute data security.
Nothing in this guide excludes or limits responsibilities or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable data-protection obligations. Submitting data does not waive those rights, and this guide does not authorise ZCO to use your data for unrelated purposes.
4. Feedback and ZCS
Distinct, useful feedback linked to a verified Participant ID may receive 100 ZCS after review. You can submit feedback without an ID; keep the submission reference and contact ZCO to link your ID later. Feedback without a linked ID receives no score until that link is verified. Duplicate, empty or spam submissions are not eligible. ZCS recognises community participation and is not money, a tradable asset, a carbon credit or verified carbon reduction.
5. Questions and data requests
Contact hello@zco.eco about corrections, deletion requests or data concerns. Include the relevant submission reference where available, without sending additional sensitive data. Requests may require verification and are handled subject to applicable obligations.
